Primo 2011

A wine produced after the excellent 2008 harvest, with the varieties Tannat, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot from the best small parcels, with a careful selection of clusters harvested manually. When received in the winery, the grapes are subject to a second selection berry by berry.

Each variety was vinified separately obtaining its maximum potential, and then aged for 12 months in new French oak barrels from the Alliers forests.

The periodic and careful tasting of each barrel is crucial for deciding the final blend, which is then subject to a new aging  period in French oak for 8 months, attaining the assemblage of all of their best qualities and enhancing the complexity of the blend, which reflects both the passion and commitment of the Pizzorno family.

Primo is the Premium wine of our winery, it was created as a tribute to the 100 years of its foundation, and is made only in years of outstanding harvests.
